Frequently Asked Questions

About the Protein Share Agreement (PSA)

What is a Protein Share Agreement?

A Protein Share Agreement (PSA) is our alternative to a traditional online shopping cart. Instead of purchasing a product off a shelf, you're reserving your share of birds raised specifically for your family this season. You pay a small deposit upfront to secure your spot, and the balance is due at pickup. This model lets us raise only what's been committed to — no waste, no guessing, just honest farming.

Why don't you sell through a normal online store?

Because we don't hold inventory. Our birds are raised on pasture to order — we don't process extras and freeze them. The PSA model means every bird raised has a family waiting for it. It also keeps our prices fair and our operation sustainable without the overhead of a cold storage facility.

Is the deposit refundable?

The deposit is non-refundable. It covers our cost of acquiring and raising your chicks before harvest. If an emergency comes up, please reach out as soon as possible — we'll do our best to work with you.

When is the balance due?

The remaining balance is due at pickup. We'll send a reminder with the final amount before your pickup date.

Pickup & Logistics

Where do I pick up my order?

Pickup is on-farm in Williamsburg, MI. Exact address and directions are shared with confirmed PSA members closer to pickup time.

What are the pickup dates?

Turkeys: Tuesday, November 24, 2026 (the Tuesday before Thanksgiving).
Chickens: Pickup date will be communicated once your order is confirmed. We'll reach out with plenty of notice.

What if I can't make it on pickup day?

Please contact us as soon as you know. We'll do our best to arrange an alternate time, but we can't guarantee availability. Planning ahead is always best.

How will my birds be packaged?

Birds are whole, fresh (not frozen), and vacuum-sealed at a USDA-inspected facility. Bring a cooler to pickup — they'll keep for several days refrigerated or you can freeze them at home.

The Birds

How are your chickens and turkeys raised?

All our birds are pasture-raised on open grass using mobile shelters that move daily. They're fed a fermented, non-GMO feed alongside what they forage naturally — bugs, grass, and seeds. No antibiotics, no growth hormones, no shortcuts.

What size birds should I expect?

Whole chickens average 4–5 lbs each.
Turkeys average 14–18 lbs each. Perfect for a family Thanksgiving table.

Are you USDA inspected?

Yes. Our birds are processed at a USDA-inspected facility so you can feel confident about quality and food safety.

Ordering

How do I place an order?

Click "Order Chicken" or "Order Turkey" in the navigation. From there you'll fill out a short PSA form and pay your deposit. That's it — we'll take it from there.

Can I order multiple birds?

Yes! Just indicate the quantity on the PSA form. There's a minimum of 1 bird per order.

I filled out the form — what happens next?

You'll receive a confirmation email once your PSA is processed. We'll be in touch with pickup details as the harvest date approaches. If you don't hear from us within a few days of submitting, check your spam folder or reach out directly.

Who do I contact with questions?

You can reach us through the Contact page or by email. We're a small family farm — we'll get back to you personally.
